Vande Bharat Transports Second Donor Heart to Ahmedabad
A special train called the Vande Bharat Express helped move a healthy heart from one city to another.
The heart was taken from a hospital in Ankleshwar and put on the train with a special police route.
It arrived in Ahmedabad quickly, so doctors could give it to a patient who needed it.
This was the second time the train did this in just three days, and it showed how hospitals, trains, and police can work together to save lives.
The Vande Bharat Express carried a live donor heart from Ankleshwar to Ahmedabad on Sunday, the second such transfer in three days.
The heart was retrieved from Smt. Jayaben Modi Multi-Speciality Hospital and loaded onto the train via a police-created green corridor.
Upon arrival, another green corridor was set up to deliver the organ to U.N. Mehta Hospital within the ischemic time limit.
The transplant was the 78th heart transplant at the institute and was performed successfully.
The operation highlighted coordination among the hospital, railways, police, and other agencies.
