China Tests Record-Breaking Floating Wind Turbine
China has built a massive floating wind turbine that's like a giant fan in the ocean.
This turbine can make a lot of electricity, enough to power thousands of homes each year.
It's designed to float in the deep ocean and withstand strong winds and big waves.
This new technology could help countries get more clean energy from the wind because it allows turbines to be placed in areas where it wasn't possible before.
If this works well, it could change how we get electricity from wind.
China has developed and tested the world's largest floating wind turbine, a 17 MW model.
The turbine is designed to generate 68 million kWh annually, enough to power roughly 6,300 homes.
The turbine's blades span 262 meters in diameter and are mounted on a 152-meter tower.
The turbine is engineered to withstand high winds and waves, undergoing testing off the coast of Yangjiang.
Floating turbines can access deeper waters, expanding offshore wind power potential.
