Park Street eateries face notices amid statewide food safety raids

Food safety officials inspected restaurants in Park Street and other parts of Bengal.

They looked at kitchens, refrigerators, food labels, spices, sauces and uncooked ingredients.

Some food was thrown away because it was not labelled properly or appeared unsafe.

Two Park Street eateries received notices and must fix the problems within a week.

Officials said the notices followed rules under India’s food safety law.

Across Bengal, more than 2,300 food businesses were checked in three days.

Thirteen places were temporarily closed or sealed, and five temporarily lost their licences.

The businesses may operate again after making the required corrections.
