Exponent Energy Bets $40M on Electrifying India's Autorickshaws
A company called Exponent Energy is planning to spend a lot of money to help autorickshaw drivers in India switch to electric vehicles.
They have created a special kit called 'Exponent Oto' that can change regular autorickshaws, which use gas, into electric ones.
This change takes about a day, and the electric battery can be charged super fast, in just 15 minutes!
The goal is to help drivers save money on fuel and maintenance every month.
The company offers a subscription plan that includes the battery and charging, and they even promise to buy back the converted vehicle after a few years.
This makes it easier and less risky for drivers to go electric.
Exponent Energy will invest $40 million over the next two years to expand its manufacturing for an autorickshaw electrification retrofit product.
The 'Exponent Oto' kit converts CNG/LPG autorickshaws to electric vehicles in about 24 hours.
Drivers can charge the converted vehicles from 0-100% in approximately 15 minutes using Exponent's charging network.
The company aims to help drivers save ₹4,000-5,000 per month on operating expenses through a bundled subscription model.
Exponent Energy offers a zero-down-payment plan with flexible EMIs and an assured buyback of approximately ₹1.2 lakh after three years.
