Mumbai's Deepest Tunnel to End at Girgaon
Mumbai is building a very deep tunnel road that will connect Orange Gate to Marine Drive.
This tunnel is special because it will be one of the deepest in Mumbai, going as deep as 52 metres underground.
The project is expected to reduce travel time from 25-40 minutes to just 5 minutes.
The tunnel will go under many buildings, railway tracks, and even the metro line.
It's being built to help people move around the city more easily and reduce traffic.
The project is currently 15% complete and is expected to finish by June 2028.
The Orange Gate-Marine Drive Tunnel is a 9.96 km project, with 7 km running underground, costing Rs 8,056 crore.
The tunnel will reach a maximum depth of 52 metres, making it one of Mumbai's deepest urban tunnels.
The project aims to reduce travel time between Orange Gate and Marine Drive from 25-40 minutes to just 5 minutes.
The tunnel will pass beneath approximately 700 buildings, heritage sites, and existing infrastructure, including railway lines and Metro Line 3.
The project is currently 15% complete, with a target completion date of June 2028, though the official completion date is December 2028.
