BMC Election Nominations Rejected, 32 Seats Face Direct Contest
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections are happening soon.
When they checked the papers of people who want to run for office, they found that many had mistakes or were missing important documents.
So, they rejected these papers.
This means those people can't run in the elections.
Some big parties like Congress, BJP, AAP, and NCP had their candidates' papers rejected too.
In 32 areas, there will be a direct fight between two groups: one is the BJP and Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, and the other is Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and MNS led by Raj Thackeray.
This is because another group, the Congress-Bahujan Vanchit Aghadi (VBA) alliance, didn't put up candidates in these areas.
The elections will be on January 15, and the votes will be counted the next day.
Several nomination papers were rejected due to incomplete documents, errors, and missing certificates.
Candidates from major parties like Congress, BJP, AAP, NCP, BSP, and independents had their nominations rejected.
32 seats will see a direct contest between the BJP-Shinde Sena alliance and the Thackeray Sena-MNS alliance.
The Congress-VBA alliance faced difficulties in fielding candidates, leading to 16 seats being left uncontested by them.
The final list of candidates will be published on January 3 after the scrutiny process is complete.
