Rajasthan Schools Warned Against Forcing Santa Dress
The education department in a district in Rajasthan, India, has told schools not to make children dress up as Santa Claus for Christmas.
The area has mostly Hindu and Sikh families, and the department wants to make sure no one is forced to follow traditions that aren't theirs.
This decision came after someone complained that schools were making kids dress up as Santa even though there are very few Christian families in the area.
The department said schools should be careful and respect local traditions to avoid any problems.
They also warned that schools could face punishment if they don't follow this rule.
Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district education department issued an order on 22nd December 2025 to stop schools from forcing children to dress as Santa Claus.
The order applies to both government and private schools in the district.
The decision was made to respect social sensitivities and cultural differences in the predominantly Hindu and Sikh area.
The order was issued after a complaint by Sukhjeet Singh Atwal, district president of Bharat Tibet Sahayog Manch.
Schools were warned of strict action if they continue to pressure students to dress as Santa Claus.
