India Forms Panel to Combat Digital Arrest Scams
The Indian government has created a special team to fight digital scams.
This team includes important people from different ministries and agencies.
They will meet every two weeks to discuss how to stop these scams.
The team will look at the problems that police and other agencies face, check the current laws, and suggest new ways to stop scams.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is using smart computer programs to catch fraud.
The team also wants to make sure that people who lose money because of these scams get their money back.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) formed a high-level Inter-Departmental Committee to address digital arrest scams.
The Committee includes senior officers from key ministries and agencies, chaired by the Special Secretary (Internal Security), MHA.
The RBI is deploying AI-based systems for fraud detection and finalizing an SOP for freezing suspicious bank accounts.
