Rajasthan Panchayat Bans Camera Phones for Women

Rajasthan Panchayat Bans Camera Phones for Women

In a village in Rajasthan, India, a group of leaders called a panchayat decided that daughters-in-law and young women from 15 villages can no longer use phones with cameras.

They can only use old-fashioned keypad phones for calling.

This rule starts on January 26.

They also can't take their phones to weddings, parties, or even to a neighbor's house.

The leaders say this is to keep children from using the phones too much, which they think might hurt their eyes.

Some people disagree with this rule, but the leaders believe it's for the best.
