Ex-SC Judge Bela Trivedi Highlights International Law's Role in Global Security
Imagine a big competition where law students pretend to be lawyers in a make-believe court case about world rules.
A very smart retired judge named Bela Trivedi came to open the competition.
She told the students that world laws are like a big shield protecting everyone.
But, there are scary new problems today, like people being mean online, fake news, bad weather making people move, and stealing money.
These problems don't stop at one country's border, so all countries need to work together with laws.
She also said that to be good lawyers and help the world, students need to be brave, smart, and honest.
Former Supreme Court judge Bela M Trivedi inaugurated the 2nd International Moot Court Competition 2025 at Rashtriya Raksha University.
The competition's theme was "International Law and Global Security."
Justice Trivedi described international law as a "guardian of global order."
She identified contemporary threats such as terrorism, cyber warfare, misinformation, climate-induced displacement, and money laundering.
Trivedi emphasized the need for collective legal frameworks to address these border-transcending challenges and stressed courage, competency, and conscience for law students.
