SEBI, RBI Push Faster Foreign Investor Onboarding, Report Says

SEBI, RBI Push Faster Foreign Investor Onboarding, Report Says

India’s market regulator and central bank are working to make it quicker for foreign investors to register.

The report says they want the process to be digital and easier to complete.

Digital signatures can now be used for some submitted documents instead of physical notarisation or apostillation.

Some overseas branches of Indian banks can also certify documents.

The regulators are also working on draft rules for financial products connected to corporate bond indexes.

These products could help large investors manage certain risks and support trading in bonds.

SEBI chief Tuhin Kanta Pandey said there would be no change to the rules on whether the country’s two major exchanges can share trading arrangements.

He said the regulator continues to focus on transparency, market monitoring, and investor protection.
