CJP Renews Jantar Mantar Protest Call After Leaders’ Detention

The Cockroach Janta Party says three of its leaders were taken into custody after arriving at Delhi’s airport.

The party says it could not reach them for more than 12 hours and did not know where they were.

It called for another march at Jantar Mantar at 10 am on Sunday, October 11.

Ajinkya Shinde is leading the call for people to join.

The party wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign over concerns about elections and voter lists.

Police warned that traffic could be diverted around parts of Delhi.

The United Nations human rights office said it was concerned by reports of mass detentions and called for peaceful assembly to be respected.

The Supreme Court scheduled a special hearing about petitions linked to Saturday’s events.
