India’s Two-Wheeler Retail Growth Reaches Nearly 20% in August

People in India bought many more two-wheelers in August than they did a year earlier.

Sales increased by about 18–20%.

The Onam festival and a lower comparison with last year helped sales.

Interest from buyers also increased in both cities and rural areas.

More people wanted premium petrol vehicles and electric vehicles.

New vehicle launches helped increase interest in electric and CNG models.

Some popular electric vehicles had waiting periods of three to four months.

Passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and tractors also performed well.

Dealers generally kept inventories at healthy levels and used selective discounts instead of broad price cuts.
