Bombay HC fines Maharashtra FDA over Pune sweet shop licence

Bombay HC fines Maharashtra FDA over Pune sweet shop licence

A sweets shop in Pune called Gurunanak Dairy and Sweets got into trouble with the food safety department.

Someone complained that people got sick after eating there.

The department checked the shop and found small problems with cleanliness and staff hygiene.

It suspended the shop's licence on June 12.

The shop owners fixed the problems and asked for another check.

The second check on July 13 showed the shop was 98 per cent okay.

But the department still did not give the licence back.

The shop lost money because it could not open.

The shop went to the Bombay High Court, and the judges said the department was going too far.

The court told the department to pay the shop Rs 5 lakh and let it open again.
