CJP Protest Turns Tense as Stone-Throwing Injures Two Police Officers

A group called the Cockroach Janata Party planned to protest in New Delhi.

They wanted to go to Jantar Mantar to demand action over alleged problems with voter lists.

Police had not given permission for the protest and set up barriers to stop people gathering there.

Officials said some protesters knocked down barriers near Akashwani Bhawan and threw stones at security officers.

Two officers were hurt.

Reports said police detained about 500 people, including three CJP leaders.

Some protesters shouted slogans as they were taken away.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad also questioned who was paying for the planned protest, but its claims were not supported with evidence in the report.
