CPCRI Unveils Four New Value-Added Products
The CPCRI, a research institute in Kerala, showed four new food products made from coconut and other plants.
These include a dairy-free ice cream called Kalpa Kulfi, crispy wafer cones, a coconut water snack called Kalpa Qbitz, and a special chocolate called Kalpa Velvet.
The institute also talked about how climate change and pests are hurting farmers who grow these crops.
They said everyone in the farming industry should work together to solve these problems.
The event had over 200 people, including scientists and farmers, who discussed how to make the plantation sector better for the future.
CPCRI showcased four new value-added products: Kalpa Kulfi, Kalpa Wafer Cones, Kalpa Qbitz, and Kalpa Velvet.
Kalpa Kulfi is a non-dairy, coconut milk-based frozen vegan product flavored with cardamom.
Kalpa Wafer Cones are nutrient-rich wafer cones made with sweet potato flour and coconut-based ingredients.
Kalpa Qbitz is a snack made from coconut water to reduce wastage, using microbial valorisation.
CPCRI and ICAR-DCR collaborated to develop Kalpa Velvet, a cocoa-coconut-cashew dark chocolate.
