RBI Governor Warns Against Complacency Despite Financial Stability

India’s central bank governor said he does not see an immediate financial crisis.

Still, he urged banks and investors not to become careless.

He said long periods without trouble can make people take bigger risks and borrow more.

India once needed more than a decade to deal with problems caused by excessive lending.

He also said conflicts and other global changes make the economy harder to predict.

The West Asia conflict has added to inflation pressures, though India’s financial system has handled its supply shock well.

Malhotra warned that a slowdown in AI companies could cause financial assets to lose value quickly.

He added that a fall in AI valuations abroad might bring more investment into India.
