Google Launches AI‑Powered Ask Google Pay in India
Google has added a new tool to its Google Pay app called Ask Google Pay.
It uses a smart AI called Gemini to look at how you spend money and give you tips on saving.
You can talk to it with text or voice in 10 Indian languages.
To use it, you have to turn on a setting that lets the app see your transactions.
Google says it keeps your money data safe and only uses your chats to improve the app.
You can see your chat history for up to 42 days and turn off the feature anytime.
Ask Google Pay is an AI feature built on Gemini that analyzes spending patterns and offers personalized financial advice.
The feature is opt‑in, available in text and voice, and supports 10 Indian languages at launch.
Users must enable the “Personalisation within Google Pay” setting to allow the app to access transaction data, saved payment methods, Google Account info, and CIBIL reports.
Google guarantees that financial data stays within the Google Pay ecosystem and is not used to train AI models; conversations are used only for product improvements with privacy safeguards.
The rollout is limited to a small group of Google Pay users in India, with chat history viewable for up to 42 days and the option to disable personalization.
