Goa to Create Kushavati as Third District
The Goa government is creating a new district called Kushavati.
This district will be made from parts of the South Goa district and will include four talukas: Sanguem, Dharbandora, Quepem, and Canacona.
The new district will have its headquarters in Quepem.
The main goal is to help the people living in these rural areas, especially the tribal community.
The government thinks this will make it easier for people to get services and improve their lives.
It will also help the government manage things better and make sure everyone in Goa gets a fair chance to grow and develop.
However, creating a new district will cost money, and the government plans to use existing schemes to cover these costs.
Goa will create a third district named Kushavati, carved out of the South Goa district, including the talukas of Sanguem, Dharbandora, Quepem, and Canacona.
The new district aims to enhance local governance, improve public services, and foster economic development in rural areas, particularly for the tribal community.
Kushavati will cover 1558.72 square kilometers, comprising 42.1% of Goa's total geographical area, with a population of 1,91,512, including 53,237 Scheduled Tribes.
The district will have 94 villages (87 inhabited, 7 uninhabited), 6 census towns, 5 assembly constituencies, 30 Village Panchayats, and 4 municipalities.
The creation of the new district is expected to reduce travel distances for administrative work and improve the quality of life and financial well-being of citizens, especially in rural areas.
