ATC Guild Demands Probe into Delhi Airport AMSS Failure
Imagine the air traffic controllers use a special computer system to talk about flight plans.
This system, called AMSS, had a problem at Delhi airport.
Because of this problem, many flights were delayed or canceled.
The people who work as air traffic controllers are worried this could happen again.
They have asked the government to investigate why the system failed and to check if the systems at other airports are good enough.
They also want to make sure that if something goes wrong, the people responsible are held accountable.
The government has already asked for a study of the problem and for better backup systems to be put in place.
The Air Traffic Controllers’ Guild has requested a government probe into the recent failure of the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) at Delhi airport.
The AMSS failure on Friday caused over 800 flights to be delayed and 46 flights to be cancelled at Delhi airport.
The Guild also called for a review of system upgrades at other major airports, expressing concerns about their capacity to handle current traffic loads.
The Civil Aviation Minister has already directed a root-cause analysis of the glitch and the implementation of backup servers.
The Guild is advocating for modernization of air navigation services infrastructure with redundancy systems and OEM-backed maintenance contracts.
