Sharad Pawar Backs Tata Trusts in Governance Dispute

Sharad Pawar Backs Tata Trusts in Governance Dispute

Sharad Pawar said Tata Trusts should continue having an important role in Tata Sons.

Tata Trusts owns about 66% of the company.

Pawar said the company was designed to use its wealth to help the public.

This includes supporting healthcare, education, research and rural livelihoods.

He also pointed to important institutions connected with the Tata group.

The Tata Sons board approved keeping N Chandrasekaran as executive chairman for five more years from 2027.

It also approved steps toward listing Tata Sons publicly.

Noel Tata opposed both decisions, while Venu Srinivasan supported them.

Pawar said the disagreement should be handled through dialogue and the legal governance process.
