Mercedes-Benz to Locally Produce GLS Maybach in India
Mercedes-Benz, a famous German car company, is going to start making its super-luxury SUV, the GLS Maybach, in India.
This is a big deal because India will be the only country outside the US to make this special car.
The company's boss, Santosh Iyer, said that India is now one of the top five markets in the world for their ultra-luxury Maybach cars.
By making the car in India, they can sell it for less money.
They also have plans to bring out 12 new cars in India this year.
Besides, they are expanding their electric car services by introducing 'MB.Charge Public' to help people find and pay for charging their electric cars more easily.
Mercedes-Benz is focusing on selling very expensive luxury cars and won't lower prices to sell more cars, unlike BMW, which is trying to attract new buyers with cheaper luxury cars.
Mercedes-Benz will start local production of the GLS Maybach in India, making it the only market outside the US to do so.
India is now a top-five global market for Mercedes-Benz's ultra-luxury Maybach range.
Local production will reduce the price of the GLS Maybach from ₹3.17 crore to ₹2.75 crore.
Mercedes-Benz plans to launch 12 new products in India in 2026, spanning both electric vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles.
The company is expanding its electric vehicle ecosystem with the introduction of 'MB.Charge Public' in India.
