BYD surges 80% in India EV market
BYD, a Chinese company, has sold a lot more electric cars in India this year.
They sold 5,121 cars from January to November, which is almost double what they sold last year.
This makes them one of the top five electric car companies in India.
They have more stores now and some of their car models can be imported more easily.
However, their cars are more expensive than some other brands.
They don't make cars in India yet, so they have to import them, which makes the cars more expensive.
Other companies like Tesla and Vinfast are also trying to sell electric cars in India, but they haven't sold as many as BYD yet.
BYD's sales in India surged by 80% from January to November 2024, reaching 5,121 units.
BYD has expanded its footprint in India, with 47 showrooms across 40 cities.
Import limits have eased for some BYD models, allowing more cars to be brought into the country.
BYD's models are priced higher than its main competitors, ranging from ₹24-49 lakh.
BYD currently imports fully built cars from China, attracting an import duty of more than 70%.
