Meta Unveils AI‑Powered Recommendation System Across Facebook and Instagram
Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, has made a big change to how it shows you videos and posts.
It now uses a type of computer brain called a large language model to look at every public post and figure out what it is about, how it feels, and how good it is.
The system also watches what you do on the app, like which videos you finish, which posts you like or share, and which accounts you visit a lot.
With all that information, it guesses which posts you will want to watch all the way through or share with friends.
Meta plans to use the same smart system on Facebook too.
The company is also dealing with lawsuits about how its apps can be addictive, especially for kids, and has set aside $2.40 billion to pay for legal costs.
Meta redesigned its recommendation system to analyze content across Facebook and Instagram using large language models.
The system evaluates topics, tone, relevance, and quality of public Reels and Feed posts.
It tracks user behavior such as watching videos to the end, likes, shares, replays, and frequent interactions.
Meta plans to roll out a similar LLM‑powered system for Facebook.
The company faces legal scrutiny over addictive features targeting young users and has set aside $2.40 billion for legal expenses.
