BRICS Ministers Adopt Climate Resilience and Wildfire Roadmap

BRICS Ministers Adopt Climate Resilience and Wildfire Roadmap

Environment ministers from BRICS countries met to plan ways to protect nature and respond to climate change.

They said developing countries need more money, technology, and training to deal with these problems.

They supported the Paris Agreement and said adaptation funding should be easy to access and offered as grants or low-cost loans.

The ministers disagreed with trade rules such as Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms, saying these could make it harder for developing countries to act on climate change.

They agreed to cooperate on preventing and responding to wildfires.

They also created plans for restoring ecosystems, fighting desertification, promoting sustainable lifestyles, and helping people adapt to climate change.

The plans will use knowledge-sharing, research, and technical cooperation.

India hosted the meeting, and China will host the next one in 2027.
