Kolkata to File FIRs Against Owners of Unrepaired Buildings
The city of Kolkata is getting tough on owners of old, unsafe buildings.
If an owner is told to fix their building and doesn't, the city will now report them to the police.
The mayor, Firhad Hakim, said this is because some buildings have recently collapsed.
Owners will get a few months to fix the problems after being warned.
If they don't, the city will file a police report.
This is to make sure old buildings are kept safe and prevent anyone from getting hurt.
