London Police Chief Says City Safer Despite Trump's Crime Claims
The head of London's police, Mark Rowley, said that London is getting safer.
He shared that there are fewer murders and violent crimes now than in the past.
This is despite some people, like U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that London has a lot of crime.
Mr. Rowley said that the facts show London is safer than many other big cities.
He also mentioned that some people share false information about crime in London.
The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, also said that the city is winning the fight against violent crime.
However, some people still think there is more crime because of things like shoplifting.
London's homicide rate is at its lowest in over a decade, with 97 homicides in 2025, an 11% reduction from 2024.
Violent incidents resulting in injury have fallen by a fifth since 2014.
Mark Rowley, Commissioner of London’s Metropolitan Police, stated that London is safer than Los Angeles, New York, and many European capitals.
U.S. President Donald Trump and others have criticized London's crime rates, with Trump suggesting there are 'no-go' areas for police.
Despite the decline in serious violent crime, public perception of crime is influenced by increases in crimes like shoplifting.
