Indian Rupee Gains on Cooling Inflation, Equity Boost
The Indian rupee, which is the country's money, did a little better against the U.S. dollar.
This happened because of good news in the stock market and because inflation, which is how fast prices are going up, is slowing down.
The stock market also went up, with important market indexes doing well.
The lower inflation gives the Reserve Bank of India the option to lower interest rates, making borrowing cheaper.
Additionally, the dollar became a bit weaker, which helped the rupee.
All of this improved the market's overall feeling.
The rupee gained 10 paise against the U.S. dollar, closing at 85.26.
Domestic equities and positive macroeconomic data supported the rupee.
India's retail inflation eased to a six-year low of 3.16% in April.
Sensex rose 182.34 points and Nifty gained 88.55 points.
Weakness in the U.S. dollar and falling crude oil prices aided the rupee.
