Delhi Consumer Court Holds Hotel Liable for Coldplay Booking Cancellation
A man booked a hotel room in Ahmedabad so he could attend a Coldplay concert.
He paid the hotel Rs 17,365 in advance.
Later, the hotel cancelled his booking without explaining why.
The man said the same room was then offered to others for a much higher price.
He complained to a consumer court in Delhi.
The court said cancelling the booking this way was unfair and unprofessional.
It ordered the hotel to pay Rs 15,000 for his distress and Rs 10,000 for legal costs.
The hotel must also pay interest on the money he had originally paid.

The complainant had paid Rs 17,365 for a two-night stay in Ahmedabad from January 24 to January 26, 2025.
The hotel cancelled the reservation on December 24, 2024, without stating a reason, and refunded the money 12 days later.
The same room was allegedly offered for Rs 46,472 for the original dates.
The commission called the conduct an unfair trade practice and awarded compensation, litigation costs, and 12% annual interest.
