NTPC Plans Rs 16.86 Lakh Crore Expansion Through 2032

NTPC is a large government-owned company that makes electricity in India.

It plans to spend about Rs 16.86 lakh crore to greatly increase its power capacity.

Its capacity could grow from about 89 GW now to 149 GW by 2032.

By 2037, the company hopes to reach 244 GW.

NTPC wants 60 GW of its capacity to come from renewable sources such as solar and wind by 2032.

It also plans to work on batteries, pumped storage and nuclear power.

Coal plants will still help provide electricity when solar and wind power are not available.

The company says India will need much more electricity as cities, industries, electric vehicles and data centres grow.

NTPC’s challenge will be completing the projects and raising enough money while keeping power reliable and making it cleaner.
