India's Record Russian Crude Imports in June 2026
In June 2026, India bought a lot of oil from Russia, more than ever before.
This oil was worth over $5 billion.
India's big oil factories, like the ones in Jamnagar and Paradip, bought much more Russian oil than before.
The price of Russian oil was lower than other oils, which helped India.
This oil from Russia helps India make sure it has enough fuel, even when there are problems in other places like the Strait of Hormuz.
India bought so much Russian oil that it was more than half of all the oil India bought that month.
India imported a record $5.14 billion worth of Russian crude oil in June 2026.
Imports grew 32% month-on-month and 25% year-on-year.
Top refineries saw significant increases in Russian crude imports: Jamnagar (150%), Paradip (126%), Kochi (83%), and Vadinar (45%).
Russian crude accounted for 83% of India's purchases, with oil products and coal making up the remainder.
The average price of Russia's Urals crude fell 26% month-on-month to $63.18 per barrel, still above the EU/UK price cap of $44.1 per barrel.
