Kerala High Court Quashes Murder Conviction

Kerala High Court Quashes Murder Conviction

The Kerala High Court in India decided to cancel a man's conviction for murder.

The court found that the judge who originally heard the case did some things that were not allowed.

The judge acted like a prosecutor, which means they helped to prove the man was guilty, instead of staying neutral.

The judge also questioned witnesses directly.

Additionally, the man did not have a good lawyer for a long time during the trial, so he had to question the witnesses himself.

The High Court said these mistakes meant the man did not get a fair trial, so they canceled his conviction.
