EPFO Launches Revamped ECR for Simpler Employer Returns
The EPFO has updated the way employers file returns, called ECR, making it easier.
The new ECR helps employers avoid mistakes when they pay into the employee's provident fund.
It separates payment from the filing process and checks for errors.
The new system also makes sure that employers pay interest if payments are late, and will alert them if they are mistakenly contributing to the pension fund for employees earning over 15,000 rupees per month.
This update also ensures that contributions to pension funds are not made after an employee turns 58 unless they choose to defer their pension.
The EPFO launched a revamped ECR facility.
The changes aim to streamline the return filing process for employers.
The new system separates the return submission and payment processes.
System-based validations are included to prevent incorrect ECR submissions.
The revamped ECR alerts employers about erroneous contributions to the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS).
