Southern Railway Completes Automatic Block Signalling on Key Routes
Southern Railway has finished installing a new automatic signaling system on its tracks.
This system helps trains know when the track is clear ahead, like a smart traffic light.
It covers about 275 km of track, including routes between Chennai and Renigunta and Chennai and Arakkonam.
The first trains to use this new system were a passenger train and a goods train.
Southern Railway completed 100% Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) on the Golden Quadrilateral/Golden Diagonal.
The project covers 275 km, including Chennai-Renigunta and Chennai-Arakkonam routes.
ABS was commissioned in the Puttur – Pudi section under Chennai Division.
Electronic Interlocking System was provided at Tadaku station.
The first trains operated on the newly signaled section were the Kacheguda – Chengalpattu Express and a BCN Goods train.
