Jharkhand Declares Desi Magur as State Fish
Jharkhand has a new favorite fish, the Desi Magur!
The government officially decided this on Wednesday.
This fish is special because it's native to the area and very nutritious.
Sadly, there aren't as many of them anymore because their homes have been damaged and too many have been caught.
By making it the state fish, the government wants to help protect it.
They will work on saving its homes, setting up special places to raise these fish, and teaching people how to breed them properly.
This will also help local communities by creating jobs and promoting healthy eating.
Jharkhand government officially declared Desi Magur (Clarias Magur) as the State Fish.
The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The move aims to promote conservation, protection, and sustainable breeding of the native species.
Desi Magur's population has declined due to habitat degradation and overfishing.
The state plans to discourage farming of hybrid Magur and promote scientific breeding and aquaculture.
