Uncertainty Over J&K Lithium Discovery
In 2023, a village in Jammu & Kashmir called Salal was found to have a lot of lithium, which is a special metal used in batteries.
The government said there were 5.9 million tonnes of lithium there, and everyone was excited because it could bring jobs and money to the area.
But now, two years later, the government says they might have made a mistake.
They are doing more tests to see if there is really a lot of lithium or not.
The villagers are worried because they thought the area would become famous for lithium, but now they are not sure.
The government is being extra careful and doing more studies before making any decisions.
They expect to finish these studies by January 2026.

G2 study expected to be finalized by January 2026 to determine economically viable reserves.
Villagers initially excited about potential jobs and prosperity, now facing uncertainty.
Geologists suggest earlier claims were overstated or publicized prematurely.
