Keir Starmer to Quit Parliament After Turbulent Political Exit

Keir Starmer is leaving his job as a Member of Parliament.

He represented Holborn and St Pancras for 11 years.

He said he believes it is the right time to let someone else represent the area.

His resignation will cause a special election called a by-election.

The seat has usually been held safely by the Labour Party.

Starmer became the constituency’s MP in 2015.

He later became Labour leader and led Labour to a large election victory in 2024.

After leaving Downing Street, he said he wants to work on international issues and violence against women and girls.

One article says his time as prime minister ended after political pressure and several missteps.
