PETA India Urges Nationwide Meat Advertising Ban Before Gandhi Jayanti

PETA India Urges Nationwide Meat Advertising Ban Before Gandhi Jayanti

PETA India wants India to stop showing advertisements for meat starting October 2.

It sent this request to Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw before Gandhi Jayanti.

PETA India says this would respect Mahatma Gandhi’s belief in non-violence, called ahimsa.

The group says meat production can harm animals and affect people’s health.

It also says raising animals for food can hurt the environment and contribute to antimicrobial resistance.

PETA India pointed to several European cities that have restricted some meat advertising.

The organization also warned about diseases linked to diets and poultry farming.

It says India has a long tradition of eating meat-free food and many vegetarians.
