Rob Savage Introduces Other Mommy as Horror’s Next Icon
Other Mommy is a new horror movie directed by Rob Savage.
It is based on a bestselling book by Josh Malerman.
The story follows a girl named Bela.
Bela meets a frightening being that looks like her mother.
At first, the being seems sweet, but it becomes more dangerous.
Jessica Chastain plays both Bela’s mother and Other Mommy.
The creature can change its shape and does not show everything about itself at once.
Savage hopes Other Mommy can become a famous horror character like Freddy Krueger or Michael Myers.
The movie is scheduled to reach cinemas on October 9, 2026.
Universal Pictures India will release Other Mommy in cinemas on October 9, 2026, with distribution by Warner Bros. Discovery.
Rob Savage directs the film, which is backed by James Wan and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Jessica Chastain plays both Bela’s mother and the sinister entity called Other Mommy.
The film follows Bela, a young girl whose relationship with the entity turns into a dangerous hunt.
Savage and Wan said Other Mommy’s shapeshifting, ambiguous form is designed to support a lasting horror character.
