Punjab and Haryana HC Stays SSA Teachers Regularisation Order
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has paused a decision that would have made some teachers in Chandigarh permanent employees.
These teachers were hired under a program called Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and had worked for more than 10 years.
A single judge had earlier said these teachers should be made permanent because they were being treated unfairly.
However, the High Court has now put that decision on hold while they review it.
The Chandigarh Administration and another person had asked the High Court to look at this decision again.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court stayed a single judge's order to regularise SSA teachers in Chandigarh.
The single judge had ordered regularisation for teachers with over 10 years of service under SSA.
The division bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor issued the stay.
The Chandigarh Administration and another petitioner challenged the single judge's ruling.
The single judge had ruled that the administration cannot misuse contractual labels to deny regular employee rights.
