Karnataka HC Maintains Cinema Ticket Price Cap
The Karnataka High Court is keeping the current rule about how much movie tickets can cost in place.
The rule says that ticket prices in multiplexes can't be more than Rs 200.
The court also said that if the people who filed the case win, movie theaters will have to give money back to people who paid for tickets electronically.
Theaters have to keep very detailed records of every ticket they sell.
The court is doing this to make sure that both moviegoers and the cinema owners are happy with the rules.
Karnataka High Court extended the stay on the Rs 200 cinema ticket price cap.
The court issued detailed directions on ticket sales and refunds.
Multiplexes are directed to maintain detailed sales records.
If the petitioners win, electronic refunds must be issued to consumers.
A refund processing plan must be submitted to the Licensing Authority within 45 days.
