Startup Policy Forum Launches Semicon Consortium Backing India's Semiconductors
India wants to make more computer chips, the tiny parts that power phones and computers.
To help with this, a group called the Startup Policy Forum has started something new — The Semicon Consortium.
It is a team that brings together small chip startups, investors, and big global companies.
The team's job is to talk with the government about how to help the chip industry grow.
A few days earlier, the Government of India approved a big plan called the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0.
The plan sets aside a huge amount of money — 1,27,500 crore rupees — for the chip industry.
Leaders met at a roundtable called Semicon Baatcheet in New Delhi to talk about this plan.
The meeting was led by S Krishnan, a senior government official in charge of electronics.
They also released a report that maps India's semiconductor startup landscape.
The goal is to help new companies grow so India can become stronger at making chips.
Startup Policy Forum (SPF) launched The Semicon Consortium, an alliance of semiconductor startups, investors and global players.
The launch follows the Union Cabinet's approval of India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 on July 15, 2026, with a fiscal outlay of INR 1,27,500 crore.
The consortium was announced at Semicon Baatcheet, a roundtable chaired by MeitY Secretary S Krishnan in New Delhi.
Key priorities include faster patient capital, implementing the government co-investment model, talent pipelines, shared infrastructure and public procurement demand.
SPF and Speciale Invest jointly released the report 'India's Semiconductor Startup Landscape 2026' at the roundtable.
