TN to add 5 Doppler radars
Tamil Nadu is getting five new Doppler radars to help track cyclones and monitor rainfall better.
These radars will be placed in different parts of the state, like Kanyakumari and Tiruchirappalli.
Three of these radars are part of a big government program called 'Mission Mausam,' and the other two are being set up by the Tamil Nadu Disaster Risk Reduction Agency.
Right now, Tamil Nadu has eight radars, but some areas don't have good coverage.
The new radars will help make weather forecasts more accurate and give better warnings about storms and heavy rain.
This will help people stay safe during bad weather.
Tamil Nadu to install five new Doppler Weather Radars (DWRs) for better cyclone tracking and rainfall monitoring.
Radars will be located at Kanyakumari, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Yercaud, and Ramanathapuram.
Three radars are part of the Central government's 'Mission Mausam' program, and two are initiated by the Tamil Nadu Disaster Risk Reduction Agency.
Current radar coverage includes eight radars, with some areas like central and southern Tamil Nadu lacking adequate coverage.
New radars aim to improve weather forecasting accuracy, early warnings, and disaster response capabilities.
