BJP, Opposition Face Off Over Student Crackdowns in Parliament

BJP, Opposition Face Off Over Student Crackdowns in Parliament

In India, the people who make laws meet in a big building called Parliament.

Two big groups of politicians disagreed very strongly about something that happened in Delhi.

Some students marched towards Parliament to protest, and the police stopped them.

The Opposition group wants the Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah, to explain who told the police to act against the students.

The government says Mr. Shah is ready to talk about it in Parliament.

But the Opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi, says talking is not enough and wants clear answers first.

While the two groups argued, the normal work of Parliament got stuck.

The government accused the Opposition of only caring about some protests and not others.

The Opposition also wants Parliament to talk about claims that donations for a temple in Ayodhya were misused.

Because everyone was busy arguing, important law-making work might not get finished on time.
