Mumbai Man Arrested for Allegedly Adulterating Amul and Gokul Milk
Police in Mumbai, a big city in India, caught a man who was doing something very bad with milk.
They say he was adding impure water to milk that had famous brand names like Amul and Gokul on it.
He planned to sell this milk to people.
The police got a secret tip and raided a house in an area called Kandivali East.
They found 74 litres of milk that had been changed, along with fake empty milk packets.
The man was arrested and taken away by the police.
Making food or milk unsafe is against the law.
The government also checked many food samples across India and found thousands that were not safe.
The police say they want to protect people's health and keep bad milk out of shops.
A 48-year-old man was arrested by the Samta Nagar Police in Kandivali East, Mumbai, for allegedly adulterating branded milk with impure water.
Police seized 74 litres of adulterated milk carrying Amul and Gokul labels, along with counterfeit empty milk pouches and material used for adulteration.
The raid followed a tip-off, and a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Government data presented in the Lok Sabha showed 40,023 of 2,23,808 food samples analysed during 2025-26 were non-conforming.
Nationwide, 31,878 civil cases were decided with penalties and 1,918 criminal convictions were recorded in food safety cases, with figures described as provisional.
