Panel Criticizes Delays in Tribal Schemes
A group in the Indian government is upset because some important projects for tribal people are taking too long to finish.
These projects include museums to honor tribal freedom fighters and special schools called Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).
The group says that the government needs to set clear deadlines and make sure the states have the land and resources ready.
They are worried that if these projects keep getting delayed, they won't be able to help tribal communities as much as they should.
The government has taken some steps to fix these problems, but the group wants them to do more and faster.
Parliamentary panel criticizes Tribal Affairs Ministry for delays in setting up tribal freedom fighters' museums and EMRS.
Only 3 out of 11 museums have been inaugurated, with the rest facing delays in completion and planning.
720 EMRS have been sanctioned, but only 477 are functional, with 341 operating from their own buildings.
Panel warns that delays and lack of clear timelines could defeat the purpose of these flagship schemes.
Ministry has taken corrective steps but panel insists on urgent action and clear timelines for completion.
