CJP Challenges BJP’s Vande Mataram Focus on Education

CJP Challenges BJP’s Vande Mataram Focus on Education

A political argument is happening in India about how much of the song Vande Mataram should be sung.

The BJP says all six stanzas and the song’s history should be remembered.

The Congress says it will follow an older decision to sing only the first two stanzas at its events.

The CJP criticised the BJP for focusing on this argument.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said Parliament should instead discuss how to improve government schools and colleges.

He said better education could help produce more writers like Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Rabindranath Tagore.

The BJP has promised a campaign about Vande Mataram, especially for young people.

Parliament also passed a 2026 amendment that reportedly makes deliberately stopping the song a punishable offence.
