Manipur Chief Minister Urges End to Bribery in Regularisation

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said contractual workers should not pay bribes to become permanent employees.

He spoke after reports of alleged bribery involving nurses led to an FIR.

More than 200 nurses were hired on contracts when healthcare needs grew, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chief Minister said workers should show their service and dedication through honest and legal procedures.

He promised that genuine concerns about regularisation would be considered fairly.

He also said the state has faced economic difficulties that led to more contractual hiring.

At the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, he opened or announced several healthcare and administrative projects.

These included medical equipment, digital systems, a nursing college and mobile medical units for remote areas.
