Nagaland University poultry project boosts women's income
A project led by Nagaland University has helped women in five villages of Zunheboto district earn over ₹30.8 lakh by raising poultry.
The project, supported by NABARD, provided training, chicks, feed, and equipment to 60 women.
They sold 2,135 birds and produced 22,618 eggs, which were either consumed at home or sold in local markets.
This initiative not only increased household income but also improved the availability of meat and eggs in the region.
The low-cost incubators introduced in the villages are expected to create a sustainable local supply of chicks, reducing dependence on external sources.
A community-based poultry project led by Nagaland University has enabled 60 women SHG members in Zunheboto district to earn over ₹30.8 lakh.
