Milk Producers Expand Indore Campaign for Higher, Cost-Based Prices
Milk producers in Indore are asking for more money for the milk they sell.
They delivered written requests to more than 50 Sanchi milk cooperative societies.
The farmers said the costs of animal feed, fodder, medicine, electricity and workers have increased.
They said milk prices have not increased enough to match those costs.
Bablu Jadhav said they want the milk price fixed at Rs 12 per fat.
They also want unpaid bonuses and an extra Rs 5 for every litre of milk.
The farmers say dairy farming is becoming difficult to afford.
They warned that their protest could grow if officials do not respond.
